'Heavy Going' It's 1920. The going is extremely heavy for this small merchant ship of about 1,100 tons as it fights it's way through the North Sea. This painting was inspired by a sketch by the English artist and Maritime expert Laurence Dunn. His knowledge of ships, particularly of the early part of the 20th century, is without peer. I've painted it in oil on a gessoed masonite panel. The painting size is 7"x 11-1/2". Framed beneath a deep mat, under glass, the overall size is 14-1/4" x 19".
