"HMS Indefatigable" - An small original oil painting by Pennsylvania artist David Young The Indefatigable (or Indie, as she was known) was a very famous British 64 gun ship of the line, launched in 1784. In 1795 she was reduced to the configuration of a 44 gun frigate. The ship had a story book career and featured prominately in C.S Forester's 'Hornblower' series of books. Most naval historians and aficionados of 18th century naval history will be familiar with the ship's escapades and her famous captain, Edward Pellew. This is a small painting, just 5-1/2" x 7" and I've elected to mat it as is my custom with small oils. It's not to everyone's liking, I know, but the mat can easily be discarded. The mat dimension is 8-1/2" x 11". The painting is on gessoed acid-free heavy paper. I painted this back in 2005 and it's been stored in an acid-free solander case since then. It's in pristine 'like new' condition. Full price of the double matted painting is $225.00 and this includes free insured shipping to any location within the Continental US.
