Original Matted Miniature Painting - Cunard Liner RMS Saxonia - Gouache by David Young. 2-3/4" x 4-1/2"
The Saxonia was a British passenger liner built in 1954 by John Brown & Co. at Clydebank, Scotland for the Cunard Steamship Co. for their Liverpool-Montreal service. In 1962 she was rebuilt and renamed Carmania but stayed on the Atlantic service. In 1966 she was repainted white and sailed as a cruise ship until 1971. She was then bought by the Soviet Union Black Sea Shipping Co. and renamed SS Leonid Sobinov. The ship was scrapped in 1999. My painting shows her as she appeared as a Cunarder in the 1950's.
This is a true miniature painting. Its size is 2-3/4" x 4-1/2" It's double matted with the mat size being 6-1/2" x 8" (Plenty of room to trim down to perhaps fit a smaller frame). Painting and mat are new and are both in excellent condition. Full price of the painting and mats is $150.00 and includes free insured shipping to any destination within the Continental US.
