North Sea Steam Trawler - a framed oil painting by David Young North Sea steam trawlers were used extensively by British and northern European deep sea fishermen from the 1880's until the early 1940's. As many as 1,500 British trawlers, alone, roamed the north sea at the peak. Many vessels were lost during the two world wars due to hostilities or acquisition by the Royal Navy for war service. By the 1940's they were mostly gone, replaced by larger diesel driven vessels. This oil is on quality canvas paper, matted with a gold taped line and framed under glass in a 1/2" decorative molding. Painting, mat and glass are new. The frame is a pre-used vintage frame but in excellent condition. Painting image size is: 6" x 8-3/4". With the framing, the full size is: 10" x 12-3/4".
