"Willy Lott's Cottage" - Flatford Mill, East Bergholt, UK - A line and watercolor wash by Pennsylvania artist David Young
This old building became famous when Constable included it in several of his great landscape paintings including 'The Haywain' and 'The Mill Stream'. He also named one painting 'Willy Lott's Cottage' and the name stuck, making Willy Lott famous. The house originated in the 16th century but was modified several times over the years. Constables paintings were from the early 1800's but it remains the same today.
Since the house is part of the Flatford Mill complex, which is a wonderful public attraction, it's visited by people from all over the world. Myself included. It's quite an experience to stand on the very spot where Constable painted it.
Line and wash on watercolor paper, 5" x 7", matted to an outside dimension of 8" x 10", a stock frame size. Excellent new condition.
Full price of the painting and mat is $75.00 and includes free shipping to any destination within the Continental US.
