Some of my fondest memories growing up in Portsmouth, VA are from those summer evenings sitting together eating crabs. Anyone who has done this regularly knows this is not for those whose stomachs are empty but rather for those who love an excuse to sit and socialize with family and friends. I painted this still life from a leftover crab from the night before. I love the complementary pairs of colors in this painting as well.
