Media: Oil UNFRAMED canvas panel
Size: 7x5 in
In this impasto oil painting, a lone rustic palm tree stands proudly against a vibrant sunset backdrop. Thick, textured strokes create a tactile and three-dimensional effect, adding depth to the artwork. I used a warm palette, blending deep oranges, reds, and light teal to capture the essence of a setting sun. The impasto technique brings a sculptural quality to the palm tree's silhouette, emphasizing its rugged and weathered characteristics. The interplay of light and dark enhances the dramatic contrast, making the scene both vivid and captivating. I painted this on a teal canvas I had pre-painted with leftover oil paint and let dry. (I have been experimenting with different colored canvases. I usually pre-paint with acrylic.) The effect it creates is quite different from painting on white, though I love the pure, bright colors I get when painting on white. The tree and sun were done with a palette knife. Most of my original oil paintings are 5”x7”. I paint “small” cuz we live “small” (full-time RVers). These little beauties fit anywhere: on a shelf, wall, countertop; they can be framed in a variety of ways or placed on a decorative easel. They also make great gifts!
BUT…I can paint ANY size you want!
Look over my Gallery and let me know if you want a larger version of any of my originals. Check out my custom pricing here.
👉🏻 ALSO…you can get merch and prints in larger sizes…click here for those. Please let me know if you don’t see the one you want.
