While painting Alice, I couldn’t stop thinking about old Hollywood—the glamour, the curls, the cinematic drama of it all. There was something about her fabulous hair that pulled me into that nostalgic space, as if she had stepped off a vintage film reel and into my canvas. As the painting evolved, she began to feel more like Alice in Wonderland—not a direct retelling, but a subtle nod. The palette of red and white, the surrounding flowers that almost resemble gears, all hint at a dreamlike world where whimsy and logic blur. It’s a visual balancing act. This painting is less about a single narrative and more about the power of suggestion. A character, a color, a curl—they invite the viewer to fill in the blanks, to wander through their own Wonderland. This piece lives somewhere between reality and imagination. It invites the viewer to decide who she is—a dreamer, a character, or someone in between.
