I painted this painting for the Austin Pastel Society juried show. It was not accepted for the show although I thought it was my strongest entry. The photo I painted this from was taken in September in Zhouzhuang, China. I was fascinated by how the local people used the canals running through the water village for everything. It was strange to see them washing their clothes, dipping their mops, and cleaning their food in the same waterways.
