This intrepid scavenger landed on the table next to us outside at Julio's in Austin, and just started helping herself to all the left over food on the plate. The bussers come by as quickly as possible to gather up the plates and try to prevent this type of scavenging, but this bird beat them to it. Have you ever watched grackles? So many of them seem to be missing a foot or even a whole leg. I wonder how so many get injured and lose them? Does anyone know? This female was missing her left foot but seemed to do just fine on her stump. Currently showing at the Cultural Activities Center in Temple.
