Spent the morning listening to screaming kids and splashing at Rio Vista Park in San Marcos. I found a quiet spot the other side of the Cheatham Street bridge from the crowds. From my shady vantage point above the river I was able to look down towards a bend in the river. I was so thrilled to find a quiet shady spot out of the traffic, that I didn't look too closely at the ground until I was halfway through my painting. When I did look I found, about five feet behind me, an almost complete snake skin over five feet long. I'm so glad it's previous occupant was long gone. I am terrified of snakes. Maybe I won't be diving into the river just there after all.
