Alvarado Camground, Colorado, is located in the Sangre de Cristo National Forest, in the eastern front range of the Rocky Mountains. It only goes up from here. There are hiking trails that lead to the lakes above timberline where the big ole fish live. This view looks to the north where the closest town, Westcliffe, lies. My mom lives just outside the Park boundaries so i've spent a lot of time around there over the years, it looks different each time I return.
This painting uses Sargent's pallette of yellow ochre, ultramarine and alizarine crimson, three amazing colors.
