Media: Mixed Pastel over Watercolor underpainting, Arches cold pressed, 140lb. watercolor block
Size: 12x9 in
This painting started as a watercolor, I was sitting on the lawn, painting away, when the automatic sprinklers come on for a little unintended wet into wet technique. I dried off, put the work aside for a few months and have finished it as a pastel over the watercolor ground. I like the effect it makes, simultaneously brightening the watercolor and tempering the pastel. I'll try this technique again.
By the way, the weather's great in late winter here in Arizona. I'll return to Upstate New York all too soon.
