There's lots of color in the Sangrias de Cristo foothills this year, unlike the the dull yellow and brown of 2015. The aspens are popping orange, too, but that's another painting. There's a lot of scrub oak and it reads as bright red when viewed from a mile away. Up close it looks like this.
