I painted this on cold pressed watercolor paper to add some texture to the painting. I enjoyed focusing on the frilly top of the roses as contrasted with the smooth body of the flowers and how they each are at slightly different phases of fully opening. The light on the roses was lovely. I contrasted this with the very different shape of the alstroemeria with its curling stem.
