I started painting this beautiful turkey, proudly showing me its male plumage. He decided I was not sufficiently flattering and decided to try to follow and try to intimidate me. Obviously I escaped without a scratch. :-). I started this painting with pen and ink linework, then put a beige wash around the turkey’s shape. I used the end of the brush to make random scratches to look like straw. I then dabbed in other colors and made sure the scratch marks revived a darker color. When that was done I started painting the turkey itself. I now have a new appreciation for just how beautiful this turkey actually is; A stunning animal!
