Media: Watercolor 140 lb cold pressed paper
Size: 6x6 in
To paint these two beautiful white crocus, opening just a day after the snow, I first painted the negative space (the space around the flowers). This included sticks, pieces of wood and the crocus leaves with their white stripe. Then I painted the crocus flowers, which while we see them as white, range from pure white to a variety of shades of blue for the parts of the petals that are in shade or in shadow. I love the delicate flowers with their yellow stamens. This painting is 6” x 9”, and can be used at this size or trimmed to a 6x6 or 6x8 (standard frame sizes).
