Sometimes after I drop my son off at school, I will drive around the country roads looking for inspiration. Coming over the rise of a hill one morning, I spotted a herd of sheep out for a mid-morning graze. They really couldn't be bothered and insisted on walking away from me, but I was able to get a few good reference shots (that didn't include their behinds!) I tried to capture the pure simplicity of the morning in this painting as well as the soft, round plumpness that sheep have.
