A lot of focused, intense work that I find fascinating and truly engaging. Measuring, measuring, measuring, making sure the features are placed correctly, figuring out all the proportion - it is my favorite part of portrait painting. The reward comes in likeness and in a relatable realistic look, hopefully with an additional visual impact of expressive brushwork.
