I had taken a record 3 week break from painting from late Oct to almost mid November.. my mind was completely scattered between some home repairs, elections and dealing with caffeine withdrawal symptoms. I couldn't bring myself to do anything productive. Thankfully, Nov 11 was the last day of my "reformatting". This is the first portrait I did the next day. A small 7"x5", which I told myself I would paint without any pressure, just to get myself going... used a hog bristle brush for more textured brushstrokes. Nothing soothes the soul as much as mixing paint and working out technical painting problems.
