I love Modigliani's melancholic and graceful portraits. For this piece, I chose to include a fragment of his portrait of Jeanne Hebuterne. I wanted to echo the prolonged shapes of the figure with the vertical long brushes and their shadows. To add some dynamics to the composition, I directed the light to create an interesting shadow pattern on the edge of the canvas. The painting comes in a beautiful floater frame and is ready to hang!
