To be honest, I warmed up to Henri Matisse's self-portrait only while painting it for my still life. As it happens every time with close examination of a work of art, I got a chance to follow the artist's vision behind his brushstrokes, only to realize that every brushstroke had its own intention and purpose. The cup is probably my most favorite part. I tried to keep the colors echoing throughout the painting - something I've learned from the great work of my "Master Class" inspirers.
