This is a little study I did of my oldest grandchild when she used to come and "bake" in my kitchen. Before she could read, I just let her get out all the ingredients that seemed "bake-y" (flour, sugar, eggs, baking powder, etc.) and she would mix things and call them her "special" recipes. The finished products were often things that only her Dad and Grandpa would eat...but she definitely got a feel for experimenting and enjoying the kitchen. Now she is a senior in college and she embodies the Mary Oliver poem, "The Journey" "And there was a new voice, which you slowly recognized as your own, that kept you company as you strode deeper and deeper into the world..."
