I started wondering why so many artists love or have loved Dachshunds. The list includes: David Hockney (He had a pack and painted them often), Picasso famously had "Lump" who was depicted in paint and on ceramics, and Pierre Bonnard painted himself and others with his Dachshund. Is it because they are portable, playful, and protective studio and life companions. It seems too that a Dachshund was able to preform conversion therapy on Andy Warhol: changing him from a cat man to the owner and lover of TWO Dachshunds. Fill me in, I want to know why they are so terrific!? I started wondering why so many artists love or have loved Dachshunds.
