In keeping with my few good men and women theme, I painted Leonard Bernstein today. And then I got to musing about conductors in general, and what an amazing job they do. Their answer to possible DISintegration is integration...to make something beautiful out of disparate parts. They are facing instruments that are 'pounded on', instruments that are blown on, and instruments that are plucked and played with horsehair bows. And they make unspeakable beauty out of that.
