When I miss my children, my solution is to paint them. That way, I get to spend some quality time with them! This child lives far away and has been working a lot...so I've been missing him! When my children were growing up, I painted them all the time, because, well, it was a hostage situation...an availability of victims. (I loved the strong light dark shapes of this image of my son sitting in my living room, along with the Guatemalan Virgin Mary in the back ground.) I was feeling the spirit of Richard Diebenkorn hovering round me today. When I miss my children, my solution is to paint them. That way, I get to spend some quality time with them!
