Today is 'flower Friday' and I think of Pierre Bonnard as an artist whose paintings are the most delicious bouquets of color. The richness and variation of color is only rivaled by the real flowers in nature. But he didn't even need to SEE it to paint it...he could make a wall of white tile in a bathroom sing with juicy color. Sometimes I look at his paintings and the colors sort of glow...I think he carried flowers in his head, even when he the subject matter wasn't even floral!
