"Happy Flower Friday, No Pollen Edition". I am SO happy the pollen count is down, my hay fever has abated and I can enjoy my garden again. It is hard to stay inside when the garden is waking up and bursting forth...but for a few weeks each year all of that verdant abundance makes my eyes itch and breathing difficult....So I looked up pollen: "Pollen is a powdery substance produced by most seed plants for the purpose of sexual reproduction." Ah ha! All of that spring time pollen is actually the garden having an orgy of sex FIRST THING! Now I feel better about staying inside with a good book. I mean, I need to give my plants some privacy. And if I plan ahead, and have a table full of chaste Myrtle Topiaries (such as are depicted in this painting), we can just hang out INSIDE til the Backyard Bacchanal passes.
