Media: oil on gessoed masonite
Size: 6x6 in
These are four 6" x 6" oils on masonite of piles of yellow crook neck squash. So cute framed in white frames grouped together, OR break 'em up and boom, you've got FOUR hostess gifts! Anyway, I started wondering what to call a 'flock' of squash (you know like a 'flamboyance of flamingos!) and so I called my daughter to brainstorm. I suggested 'a squish of squash', but since squash are in the gourd family she suggested 'a gourdopolis'. She then said, "Mom, this is what you did when you played scrabble with us as children. You made up a word and then gave us a VERY plausible definition. And we innocently thought, Wow, mom knows lotsa words!" I guess, maybe, I DID do that...but hey, my children turned out to be VERY creative AND funny...so no harm done. What would YOU call a gaggle of gourds?
