THIS is how I want my garden to be every summer: "Jungled Up". Years ago, I learned about 'French Intensive Gardening' whereby you can cram the veggies in, cheek by jowl, give them lots of compost and get more veg out of less space. Thennnn, I went to Italy and learned the expression 'più è di più' or 'more is more' in English. Wow! Now, I am the poster girl for this expression...especially in gardening and painting. So by this time in the summer (July) I want to be wading through a jungle of flowers and vines. When I saw Monet's nasturtium path where they are crawling out all over the path, I experienced Stendhal Syndrome, BIG TIME. When I see any plant taking over a man-made edifice, such as ficus repens (creeping fig) JOYYYYY! I have a wonderful daughter who sends me packets of seeds of one of my favorites, 'Morning Glories'...I mean, if the heavenly blue flowers weren't gorgeous enough, what about that name??!!!...I've never met an exuberant plant, in the plant world, that I wasn't drawn to. (Okay, I admit that I have never met Kudzu...it DOES sound a little crazy, "The vine that ate the south"???) but, you get the idea, when I say "jungle up", I mean "jungle up", more is more. What is better than to 'wade through' flowers and store up lots of 'summer joy' in your soul? THIS is how I want my garden to be every summer: "Jungled Up".
