This Regina Spector song, "No me quitter pas" (Don't Leave Me) is exactly how I feel about the last of the dahlias...don't leave me and may it be a long time before the garden freezes and goes to 'slime' for the year. Please, please, give us a long slow Indian Summer. And then I saw this image of UK designer Sarah Vanrenen's green painted scalloped side table holding my beloved big magenta dahlias and I HAD to paint this as an offering to the Autumnal Weather Gods: "Please let us enjoy these glorious blooms a little longer!"
