While I was building my studio, I was conflicted about the conventional wisdom of "artists want northern light"...because I had been painting in a bedroom with windows on the south and east. And I quite liked the strong light and the shadows it created. I still like it. It changes throughout the year, and I love placing jars, (empty and with flowers in them) on the windowsill and looking at the light coming through and the shadows cast.
