I love this time of year because the light and shadows are so strong. I love that the value of the shadow on the bright cement is as dark as the pool water...and the cream canvas umbrella is as bright as the sunny cement. It's just easier for me to see the simplified shapes in these strong shadows...good strong contrast is like the "training wheels" of painting!
