This palm tree is one of hundreds of palms found at Puʻuhonua National Park in Big Island, Hawai’i. This park has historical significance. In early 19th century, Hawaiians who broke a law could avoid certain death by fleeing to this place of refuge or puʻuhonua. Defeated warriors and non-combatants could also find refuge here during times of battle. In present day, this is a beautiful and relaxing park by the ocean to visit. This painting is part of the ongoing series of paintings for my solo exhibit, ‘With Aloha’. © Piya Samant Fine Art. All rights reserved by the artist. In the serene sternness of mountains, the rapid thrust of waterfalls, and vastness of oceans, I see the timeless mystique of permanence and fragility. Ever changing seasons inspire me to capture universal hope and fleeting moments of Earth’s diverse landscape.
