While visiting a friend's island cottage last fall, I fell in love with the interior. Filled with mid-century furnishings original to the house her father built, the feeling is of casual comfort and rugged elegance. The real treat is the view out of the many windows, with glimpses of the beautiful Maine coast. And to sit at a table, eating the clams one just dug up off shore, laughing with friends?
