This is the shore of Lake Michigan, where our family spends time each summer. The family has been visiting these shores since the early 1900's, making our children the fifth generation (although some families are one their sixth). As someone who married into this place, it has a touch of awe for me. Our children ran wild in the woods, where there are no fences, and other property owners are kid and dog friendly, remembering their own childhoods filled with the same freedom and wonder. In fact, they are probably related. Each evening we walk down to this place and this view. Time stands still as the sun races toward the horizon. Cares slip off as a sense of wonder and peace settles in. Our collective happy place. This is the shore of Lake Michigan, where our family spends time each summer.
