It's wonderful to live in an area that has a lot of birds, many of them water birds. On a recent walk we saw geese, ducks, gulls, swans and a pair of nesting Bald Eagles. When we walk another way, we see this nesting swan. I imagine the water surrounding her large nest offers protection from foxes and other predators. It seemed to perfectly sum up the feeling of spring in the air - a regal queen hatching her brood. While I've been in areas with swans before, this is the first time I've seen one nesting.
