Forty years ago I discovered this gem when it was a quiet little backwater of a place. When I needed to still my mind and quiet my heart, I'd drive out to Smith Rocks and take in the powerful beauty of this place. It was usually empty of people. It's now a major destination for rock climbers and others, but I still enjoy the calm beauty of this place. Happy to revisit it on a recent summer's cross country road trip.
