Walking in the woods is always filled with discovery. Sometimes subtle changes from day to day give hints about the shifts in seasons or the unseen drama of a local ecosystem. Other times, surprises leap out, filling me with surprise and joy. This abandoned house site is remembered only by these daffodils, opening each spring in near solitude. It takes a hike to find them, and only during a narrow window when the trail is open in the spring. But it was worth it. Walking in the woods is always filled with discovery.
