This majestic white pine stands over the beach where we visit each summer. It's on the property of my husband's uncle, and shades us when we sit on their deck to catch up and watch the sunset, as we celebrate the summer and time together. The whole area is slowly changing from pine to deciduous trees, as forests do over time. But for now we still enjoy the shade and scent of these beauties. I especially love taking a deep breath, soothed by the smell of my childhood. And I also love listening to the sound of wind through the pine needles. It's unique and haunting in its beauty.
