It is hard to capture the colors in the atmosphere this time of year. I was painting this on site, and saw green, lavender, yellow and blue in the air, diffused by the sea mist that is always in this place. I loved looking over the deep purple and blue of the water and seeing this lone tree standing watch over the whole scene. It was hard not to anthropomorphize the scene, giving it qualities of watchfulness and serenity. Instead, it is just there, and beautiful.
