I've always wanted to visit Vinalhaven, having seen the amazing artwork done by many Maine artists who have painted there. It was as beautiful as I'd imagined. I am trying to do more Plein Air work, so hauled my gear out a short trail to this view on Lane's Island. Under a blue sky, with just the right amount of breeze and the singing of the ocean in my ears, I was able to paint several views from this spot. I took it back to my studio to finish, but loved getting the first impressions and layers down on site.
