It's snowing today (February 11) but I'm painting from reference materials I gathered in a warmer season. This painting is from a visit to the nearby Deschutes River this past October. The range of values and hues is rich - ideal to paint in pastels. I'm surprised at how satisfying it is to paint with pastels. I'm rediscovering them.
