I grew up on Offut Lake in beautiful Western Washington State. I have returned to live and work there alongside three generations of family. I enjoy painting the beauty I see on my paddling ventures around the lake. Offut Hideaway is part of a series of oil paintings I've created in spring 2020. I've entitled the series Quiet Waters. Quiet Waters embodies selah, rest, and pause -- in soul-restoring places of peace - lakes, streams, rivers, and ocean. This virus season has challenged our contentment, our convenience, and sometimes our peace. My artist response to these inner and outer tensions is to paint places of peace - places of quiet waters. To me, the lake and stream imagery is soul-refreshing.
