The Deschutes River is less than a mile from my home-studio. And for a few years, I lived in a cabin, there in the river flood plain. To me, the river is about solace and a sense of "home" here in the Pacific Northwest. Remembering Deschutes is part of a series of oil paintings I've created in spring 2020. I've entitled the series Quiet Waters. Quiet Waters embodies selah, rest, and pause -- in soul-restoring places of peace - lakes, streams, rivers, and ocean. This virus season has challenged our contentment, our convenience, and sometimes our peace. My artist response to these inner and outer tensions is to paint places of peace - places of quiet waters. To me, the lake and stream imagery is soul-refreshing. And so I've painted them to "notice" them, to receive them well, and to share them. see more artwork by Steve Scheibe at www.visibleinvisible.com and view his thirty days of painting page here http://www.visibleinvisible.com/pages/daily-paintings/spring2020dailyoilpaintings.php Artwork is sold unframed and sealed with damar varnish (sealed 11/2/2020).
