This is at the intersection of a walking trail and this winding road (which meanders beyond the frame to where I live not far down the road). Not visible in the frame is a 90 degree angle bend in Waldrick Road just behind the viewer. So standing here, I can hear motor vehicles slowing down to navigate that steep corner, then accelerating again. The life metaphor I discovered in this simple corner is that when making major life changes/decisions, it's good to slow down. Otherwise one may end up in the ditch. This artwork, Summer Swoops, is one painting in a series entitled “Turning.” Turning is about direction, situation, momentum, and pacing. Imagery is inspired by scenes along my daily walks at the nearby Chehalis Western Trail. Curving roads and illuminated pathways embody themes of Turning. This season of slow-down has quieted my own busy schedule. The quiet has revealed my soul condition, my path, and my pace. I'm receiving this season as a healthy "reset" of my tempo and choices of activities. Hopefully I'm numbering my days aright to gain a heart of wisdom. And so the theme of turning -- is about where I'll step and how quickly I step (or pause). It's a fitting metaphor for me in this season. see more artwork by Steve Scheibe at www.visibleinvisible.com Artwork is sold unframed and sealed with damar varnish (sealed 11/2/2020).
