On Hold
My pastels had been tucked away for too many years (twenty?). But then one sunny day in June 2019, I opened those boxes and attempted a pastel painting of the light I saw returning to my home from a walk at the nearby trail. I approached the pastels with a playful freedom I hadn't experienced before. Now, the more I paint in pastels, the more hooked I become. I've rearranged all my pastel sticks by value and hue and I've built a custom wall-mounted, magnetic board easel on an articulated arm. It requires no floor space. The tools add ease and keep me painting. With my studio upgrades, I just purchased a select few deep dark pastel sticks from Terry Ludwig and Unison. I was about to frame this painting when I realized it needed some dark touch ups. So this painting was started in June of 2019, and it was completed August 1, 2021. I'm pleased to finally be able to share it here at DailyPaintworks.
