I love love love irises! I love their cool to warm colors and their wiggly shapes. I often use a limited palette of just a yellow, red, and blue, but I broke out my purple, viridian, sap green, quinacridone magenta, and Indian yellow in addition to my ultramarine and Hansa yellow.
