Day 17 of my annual "painting a day" challenge. After looking through my reference material, I settled upon wildlife as my theme since I have accumulated quite a collection from my travels and hikes. This literally turned out to be the "catch of the day" in more ways than one. We saw this scene while canoeing down the Current River. I had my DSLR out taking photos as we quietly floated along. I didn't put my camera back in the dry bag since we literally only had about a mile or two left of the trip. Little did I know we'd find ourselves in a jam around the bend, end up rolling the canoe--drowning my camera. I was able to save the card and retrieve my reference photos but, it turned out to be an expensive reference gathering trip! If I had it to do over--I probably still would. It was an amazing experience to sit and watch not one but two different mink, in their habitat, fishing, swimming, and doing what they do.
