I spent a few days away, painting with a couple of friends--a painting retreat. It was perfect weather and we were starting to see signs of fall here. This was painting #2 on day 2. I was struck by the beautiful, golden colors of the soybean field in the foreground and the wonderful, purple shadows on the country road. It was a hot day and we endured a lot of dust from farm equipment and vehicle traffic traveling by on the road. It seemed everyone was either out working the harvest or out going for a Sunday drive on the back roads.
